Schools

I think we have one of the best school systems in the country.I was fortunate enough to be in the first Freshman class at the new Brockton High School way back in 1970.I was totally amazed at the endless opportunities the High School afforded me and my classmates.A TV studio, an huge state of the art auditorium a radio station a planetarium and just look at our Football Stadium. We have new elementary schools including green energy schools not to mention the top notch teaching staff. I have high hopes for the leadership of our new Superintendent.

In Ward 2 we are very fortunate to have Richard Bath as our School committeeman. He is a common sense non nonsense type of guy just as I am.We have met several times and If I am fortunate enough to be elected as your Ward 2 City councilor we have decided to have joint Ward meetings so we can cover all aspects of problems in the Ward.

Richard and I totally agree on the fact that Ward 2 should have a K - 8 school at the Arnone. It just makes sense .As Richard has pointed out the stress of transitioning from Kindergarten to 1 st Grade,  5 th Grade to Middle School and 8 th Grade to High School are eliminated. The city would also save money on busing if we were to have the Arnone as a K - 8 school.

I also think that it is very important that we have an open line of communication between the City Council and the School Committee.
